Project Tektro Bobber

This 1970 Harley XL900 was featured in BSH back in 1993, as part of a '70's special'. At that time it had a badly done hardtail conversion, long girder front end, and was very orange. It then spent over ten years languishing in a back garden, slowly rusting away, before being rescued. We intend to build a usuable bobber, using a mixture of classic 70's retro style and modern parts.

The frame was beyond repair, as we cant weld to rust,  and so was replaced with a new Santee rigid 'juice frame'. We then  widened the rear end to accommodate a wider tyre, and removed all the motor and tank mounts, these will be remade to suite.

A pair of wire wheels were liberated from my old Z1 turbo race bike. With Akront alloy rims, stainless spokes and gold anodised Talon hubs, they may be thirty years old, but they still look lovely.

Having tried a few different tanks, we finally settled on this smallish mustang tank. With this sprung saddle, it'll hopefully be reasonably comfy.

With a Tektro, we are using some modern elements, such as this USD R1 front end, complete with a set of our own NaF yokes. We will also be using a pair of 4-pot 'blue star' calipers, as we like decent brakes on our bikes.
